so very proud

I am "so very proud" these days! At last, my universal knowledge and expertise on anything conceivable is being recognized!

Lately I have been receiving invitations to submit papers to journals of various, diverse scientific fields - of which I am absolutely ignorant ...

Gastroenterology and Hepatology:

Archaeology and Anthropology

Aquatic biodiversity (journal not named yet ...!!!)

Radiation Oncology

Biology

Policy and Development

Material Science

Hematology and Oncology

Mutianyu Great Wall

At the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall of China, just one hour by car from Beijing

Ascending by cablecar - too steep to climb on foot under the summer heat

Cute company

Hiking from tower 14 to tower 23

... 5km hiking under 34 degrees Celsius and 80% humidity ...

An improvised refreshment shop "hanging" outside the Wall.

The final steep ascent! More than 440 steps, the last 20 of them almost vertical ...

Looking back ..

Finally, exhausted, on top of tower 23 ...

The crossing to the Jiankou section is now barred. We had been there back in 2018

Visible fatigue ..

Manual garbage transport ..

Hiking towards tower 6

A few interesting facts: the Great Wall is not a single Wall, but a series of fortifications that were built across the historical northern borders of ancient Chinese states and Imperial China as protection against various nomadic groups from the Eurasian Steppe. Several walls were built from as early as the 7th century BC. The best-known sections of the wall were built by the Ming dynasty (1368–1644). Before the use of bricks, the Great Wall was mainly built from rammed earth, stones, and wood. During the Ming, however, bricks were heavily used in many areas of the wall, as were materials such as tiles, lime, and stone.
