Domina Theophanu imperatrix, uxor et mater imperatoris, quae huic ecclesiae Sancti Pantaleonis, munificenter cumulavit hic sepulcrum sibi consecravi iussit, summo honore coluit et rebus propriis.
The Lady Theophanu, empress, wife and mother of an emperor, who showed special favor to this church of St. Pantaleon, munificently provided and here ordered her own tomb to be consecrated, and cherished it with the highest honour and at her own expense.

Χτίστηκαν κυρίως στην Ενετοκρατία και συνδέθηκαν με την εκτροφή περιστεριών για κρέας και για το πολύτιμο λίπασμά τους. Στην Τήνο υπάρχουν σήμερα περίπου 1000 περιστεριώνες. Οι πιο ωραίοι βρίσκονται στον Ταραμπάδο.
21 March 1965: Greek Orthodox Archbishop Iakovos was the only church leader who had the courage to walk hand-in-hand with Martin Luther King during the famous march in Selma. When Iakovos died in 2005, King’s wife — Coretta Scott King — said: “At a time when many of the nation’s most prominent clergy were silent, Archbishop Iakovos courageously supported our Freedom Movement, and marched alongside my husband, and he continued to support the nonviolent movement against poverty, racism and violence throughout his life.”
